Across Africa and Beyond
Ten thousand miles overland across some of the worst terrain in the world, in a 50 year old open car without back-up vehicles or support network. James Wheildon and Paul Davies were the first team of the six entries in the 1988 London to Sydney Vintage Rally to arrive at the famous Opera House in an amazing 84 days.
This is their account of a daring route across the Sahara Desert, the might Congo River and jungles of Central Africa, to the golden beaches of Mombasa in East Africa, and thence by ship to Australia. Then across the inhospitable Nullarboor Desert from Perth to Sydney to finish way ahead of the other competitors.
